
1. BEFORE RACES
1.1. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting.
1.2. All drivers must know the racing agenda and their proper places in the line-up prior to staging of their race.
1.3. Participating vehicles must be in staging lane before the end of the prior race.
1.4. NO race will be delayed for an un-staged car.
1.4.1. Anyone causing delay will be placed at the back of the line up for both Heat & Feature.
1.5. Any late arrivals will run at the back of the line-up for both Heat & Feature.
1.6. All first time drivers must start in last position and car must display “ROOKIE” tag for a minimum of 3 races. Then ONLY at the discretion of SOS will the tag be removed.
1.7. All vehicles are required to help pack the track. Failure to do so will cause the driver to start in the rear of the line up for both Heat & Feature.
1.8. MANDATORY: All classes must have safety inspection before allowed to race. Without inspection, driver will not be allowed on the track.
1.9. Any vehicle found to be in violation, of the rules on a previous race night must arrive at least ONE hour early upon return for inspection by track tech.
1.10. Any engine tear down found in violation, may call track tech for inspection before assembly at location approved by track tech and engine builder, before returning to the track.
1.11. Any driver not at drivers meeting may lose up to 50 points for not attending. Roll call at anytime for any class. (This means the drivers signed in at the gate for that night)
1.12 A driver may only sign up one car in each class on any given points night. Any driver driving a car that they have not signed up for on that points night will forfeit all money and points earned that night.
2. DURING RACES
2.1. After the race begins, the FLAGMAN will have control. The only person to override the FLAGMAN will be Jim.
2.1.1. Only Jim has the authority to stop a race other than the flagman.
2.2. Any vehicle causing 1 bad start may be moved to the back.
2.3. Any vehicle causing a race to be stopped and or restarted can be placed in the rear for the restart by the flagman or Jim.
2.4. Any vehicle exhibiting a hazardous condition may be mechanically black flagged.
2.5. Vehicles leaving the race may either exit the track safely or pull into the infield. If in the infield, driver must remain belted in the vehicle until race is over, unless vehicle is on fire or asked/allowed to exit the vehicle by track official/tow truck operator/safety personnel.
2.6. ALL BLACK FLAGS ARE FINAL unless ruled otherwise by Jim.
2.7. After each race, watch tech area for signal to stop for inspection. If you fail to stop while being signaled, you may be disqualified.
2.7.1. Hook ups for vacuum, tach, and battery on drivers side under the hood for teching purposes are MANDATORY for all classes.
2.8. NO two way communication radios allowed in vehicle at any time. NO EXCEPTIONS!
3. AFTER RACES
3.1. Drivers should promptly collect their winnings. Pay outs begin 30 minutes after the completion of the said race. Exception: If tech tear down is present, winnings may be held until decision is made.
3.2. Any protest or engine tear downs must be in writing & accompany $500 cash. If car in question is found to be legal, the $500 goes to the car protested. If the car in question is found to be illegal the $500 will return to the person or persons protesting.
4. PIT RULES
4.1. Anyone entering the pits must sign a release at gate and purchase a pit pass.
4.2. All first time drivers must complete a registration card stating name, age, SS#, current mailing address, vehicle #, description and vehicle sponsor.
4.3. All drivers and crew members under the age of 18 must have a written release from their parents or legal guardian registered with track management.
4.4. All persons age 13 and under must be supervised by an adult while in the pit area, or they will be ejected from the pits.
4.5. To prevent congestion in the pit area, only the race vehicle and the vehicle pulling it will be allowed inside the pit area. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
4.6. Pets ARE allowed in pit area as long as they are properly contained.
4.7. NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED ON SHADY OAKS SPEEDWAY GROUNDS.
4.8. *Omitted by Director*
4.9. NO ALCOHOL OR PERSONS .....UNDER THE INFLUENCE.... WILL BE ALLOWED INSIDE THE PIT AREA, BEFORE OR DURING A RACING AGENDA. OFFENDERS WILL BE ASK TO LEAVE BY THE SHADY OAKS SECURITY PERSONNEL
4.10. Anyone wearing a pit pass wristband may NOT PURCHASE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES UNLESS THEY FORFEIT THEIR PIT PASS WRIST BAND AND ASKED TO MOVE OVER TO THE SPECTATOR SIDE.
5. RULES OF CONDUCT
5.1. Any manner of conduct deamed to be unsportsmanlike including rough driving, threats of violence, approaching another competitors person, car and or pit, derogatory or unprofessional forum posting.
5.2. Penalty for violation of rule 5.1 may result in any of the following.
5.2.1. Vehicle and or driver black flagged from the race in progress.
5.2.2. Disqualification for the remainder of the nights events.
5.2.3. Suspension for a specific number of nights.
5.2.4. Permanent Suspension.
5.2.5. Loss of points (50 to 200 points for each violation) and or money earned.
5.3. Drivers are responsible for their pit crews conduct at all times.
5.4. Drivers should make their crews aware of the consequences of any rule infractions.
5.5. All rules apply to the crew and all others affiliated with driver as well as to the driver, with special emphasis given to rule 5.1.
5.6. THE DRIVER SHOULD BE THE ONLY SPOKESPERSON FOR THE VEHICLE AND THE PIT CREW.
5.6.1* ONLY THE DRIVER AND ONE CREW MEMBER MAY BE IN THE TECH BUILDING AT A TIME!! IF YOU ARE NOT A PART OF THE CAR/TRUCK BEING TECHED AND YOU ARE IN THE TECH AREA YOU STAND THE CHANCE OF DISQUALIFICATION AND/OR SUSPENSION.
5.7. The Flagman or Tech has the authority to disqualify an entry. Only Jim have the authority to issue penalties or reverse disqualifications.
5.8. Please be cooperative and friendly at all times. Remember we are out to have fun and excitement.
6. INSPECTIONS AND PROTEST
6.1. Track officials may, without notice, choose to tear down/inspect/search any vehicle at any time, anywhere, and for any reason.
6.2. Any vehicle not meeting all rules of Shady Oaks Speedway for that class may be permitted to race. Out of area vehicles in their first trip to Shady Oaks Speedway for the season with only minor infractions will be allowed to run last in the line up of the class it most qualifies for. Upon return to Shady Oaks Speedway, vehicle must be legal for class it intends to run.
6.3. Protest
6.3.1. Drivers may protest a vehicle and or driver in their own class only. The protest (illegal engine, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc.) must be presented to track tech, or Jim, depending on nature of concern. They will handle it accordingly.
6.3.2. REFUSAL to allow tear down based upon legitimate protest will be treated as an ILLEGAL finding.
6.3.3. If found to be in violation of rules, an additional 50 to 200 points may be taken from the driver of the illegal vehicle.
6.3.3.1. Driver may also be subject to an additional fee of $50.00- $200.00
6.3.3.2. Driver may also be subject to loss of entire accumulated points.
6.3.4. If for any reason, vehicle cannot be disassembled and inspected that night, it may not be permitted to leave Shady Oaks Speedway grounds. Instead it will be locked in a secure area, specified by track tech to be checked at a later time when one or both parties are available.
6.3.5. Any decision made, may or may not be final at the time it is made, and or anytime thereafter.
6.6.6. IF YOU PLAY IN THE GRAY..... BEWARE OF WHAT THE TECH MAN IS GOING TO SAY.
6.4. CLAIMS
6.4.1. In order to validate any claim, the track tech must be notified at intermission. The person(s) allowed to place a claim are registered drivers within same class of the driver having the item claimed or the track tech official. The only claimable items have been listed in this rule book in each class along with claimer fee. The claimer money will only be accepted as cash. Refusal of accepting a claim can result in loss of all points and money for THAT NIGHT. Track officials will make decision. REMEMBER this claimer rule has been installed to regulate the amount spent on the claimable items. Not a weekend swap meet!
